Professional Pool Lifeguard Course
To assist lifeguards in planning for work as a Pool Lifeguard, Wollongong First Aid offers the Professional Pool Lifeguard re-certification and assessment course.
This course is designed specifically for those that have significant industry experience and can demonstrate current competency in pool lifeguard and / or lifesaving skills.
Without significant industry experience it is recommended the student seek training and assessment with another provider that offers pathways for new entrants. You will find these other providers listed on www.training.gov.au
It is anticipated that the Professional Pool Lifeguard re-certification course would be suitable for those wanting to work as lifeguards for the councils of Wollongong, Kiama, and Sutherland for this coming season. Other councils and private providers may also accept this award but you will need to contact them directly to ensure the suitability of this course.
Pool lifeguards may need to obtain a "Pool Lifeguard License" from The Royal Lifesaving Society to gain employment. You will need to talk directly with your prospective employer to confirm this.
To meet the requirements of this award all applicants will need to complete or have a current Pool Lifeguard Skill Set, HLTAID003 Provide First Aid, and HLTAID007 Provide advanced resuscitation
It is desirable that applicants have or have the ability to obtain a spinal injury management certificate
